Change your mind and change your world

In today’s culture we are constantly confronted with a so called perfect world, the film star with the perfect looks, the perfect figure and the perfect husband, everything seems to be perfect and what is more we are given the impression that this is the only way to be to find happiness, contentment and satisfaction. How can one therefore not feel incomplete in a world of so much completeness. Are you feeling incomplete? Are you feeling not good enough? Are you troubled by constant worrying thoughts of not being able to measure up to  the standard that the media and the world around you seems to portrait you must adhere to?

The outside world will have us believe that it is them that is calling the shots but in reality it is not.  Change the thoughts you hold to positive and supporting thoughts and the world around you will change accordingly. Change your mind and you will change your world.  If you believe the world cannot be trusted than the universe will bring you continuous examples that will strengthen your view of this kind of world. In contrast if you hold the believe that the world is a safe and honest place you will find this believe supported by the people around you. You will always get what you are focused on.

But is it really just that simple to change one’s mind and the thoughts that are created within?

From an early age we have been conditioned that the outside world is determining our happiness and the way we feel. Children have to behave in certain ways in order to be acknowledged, accepted or even to be loved. Nobody gave a toss of what is going on inside a person, but it is that inside that determines everything. It determines whether we are happy, it determines whether we are successful and, believe it or not, it determines whether we are healthy.  

To prove this point to you all you have to do is to think of a situation that pleases you and then think of a situation that does not please you and notice how your feelings change accordingly. If you have done what I have just asked you to do you will prove to yourself that the way you feel is determined by the thoughts you hold and while you were doing this everything around you remained the same. So the first thing than to change ones thoughts is to notice what is going on with compassion and understanding und thereafter every time you notice yourself having a negative thought change the thought to a more positive one.
